Rowing

52 donors have given to Rowing, raising £6,356.

Rowing is Durham School’s oldest sport, and it remains our most successful across all ages. Whether at home on the River Wear, on the Tyne, Ouse and even at Henley, Durham School is preceded by a fearsome reputation. The Boat Club has always thrived with the help of parents and ODs, and many boats bear the names of the ODs and families that helped to purchase them.

Key to the Boat Club’s continued success is its commitment to widespread participation throughout the School. Many pupils enjoy rowing simply to “get out onto the water”. Working with our passionate coaches, this enthusiasm is often converted into performance, with novice teams regularly in the medals at local competitions.

Durham School has a record on the water that compares favourably with schools nationally. Over the years many ODs have gone on to race internationally thanks to their gifts being kindled at Durham School.

Every pound donated to the rowing fund will help Durham School Boat Club, the third oldest boat club in the world, to continue to thrive.
